Day 4 Bäckby Skola, Pedersöre (Finland).

 Mo (Swedish): 3rd - 4th.


We start in 3rd and 4th grade with reading comprehension activities. During the 45-minutes class, the teacher pauses for 3-4 minutes to do kinetic exercises and promote brain activation. 



OL (Natural Sciences) : 3rd - 4th.

We go out into the environment to observe different birds that have come to spend the summer season with binoculars. We took a book to identify them and learn about some of their characteristics. We return to the classroom to read and comment on the section related to birds. Finally, we search on on two websites about the migration of elks in Sweden where they have to cross a river. Also, we observed on another website the evolution of a nest from mating to hatching. Both pages offer live connection.



Slöjd (Carpentry) : 1st - 2nd .

We individually build a wooden fishing rod. 



Mo (Swedish) : 5th - 6th.

Writing an essay. The teacher writes and explains a mental map to explain the different parts of this type of text and the students copy it in their notebooks. Next, each student creates a free essay on the computer using the online word processor offered by Google. The teacher reviews the text of the students who finish and gives them a crossword puzzle.



 Meeting with the municipal education representative and the 15 directors of the municipal schools. 

The representative congratulates a director for his 60 years old birthday. Everybody gets up and sings happy birthday. 

Next, he invites me to introduce myself and why I am here. He values my proffesional stay and appreciates the importance of exchanges.

Next, it goes on to present a detail and recognition to two people who have 20 years of service. 

They comment on the good score obtained by the teaching staff (9-10) after the self-assessment carried out on their profession.

 They talk about the state of health of teachers after the pandemic. They have bought some devices along with software that measures the state of health of teachers. With the results they speak with their director or representative to see how they can improve their health status. It is not mandatory, but if they decide to wear it, they can do it for several days. The devices and the program have cost more than €100,000. In the municipality of Pedersöre there are about 150-200 teachers.

Order of the day: 

1. The response of the ENPS from the schools.
2. The situation around Firstbeat measurements. 
3. New adviser of exercises of the municipality (info on the activities). 
4. Spring dates and programs. 
5.The program of the planning day. 
6.When the fall semester begins. 
7. Summary of the situation of the staff (teachers and assistants). 

The meeting is led by the local education representative. It is informative. There are 4 people my age, the rest are older.

Mini-project with Genially to practice Speaking.

  This time the instructions are simple. We will use the tool Genially to support and encourage oral interaction in the classroom. INTERACTION

  We are close to say goodbye to this interesting course about a wide range of digital resources to use in class, but before I finish I have been looking up the different blogs created by the participants where they have shared their ideas and experiences and this provides enrichment for everybody. I  liked the Edpuzzle  from Ángela´s blog since it´s about the topic we are working in class and it helps the students to practice listening and speaking. The activity is structured in Pre task, Task and Post task with clear objectives.  I will now plan a Edpuzzle activity with my group.  Project : Planning a trip and writing a postcard. 1.
